Abnous Podia Invest&Architect Inc. (APIA), in collaboration with the City of Hachioji, has begun a field trial to evaluate the deodorizing performance of Safu™ in temporary restrooms installed for the Hachioji Festival, held from August 7 to 9, 2026.
The trial was developed through the City of Hachioji's public-private co-creation program. It supports the city's goal of creating restroom environments that people feel comfortable using and evaluates the product under actual operating conditions.

About Safu™
Safu™ is a powdered industrial bio-deodorizer that uses beneficial soil-derived microorganisms. When activated by moisture contained in human waste and other organic matter, it helps suppress odor-causing compounds and is expected to provide a sustained deodorizing effect through microbial activity.
Field Trial Overview
Selected temporary restrooms at the festival have been divided into treated and untreated groups. Odor levels in both groups will be measured and compared to evaluate the deodorizing performance of Safu™ under actual operating conditions.

- Trial period: August 7-9, 2026
- Location: Selected temporary restrooms at the Hachioji Festival
- Partner: City of Hachioji
- Product: Safu™ bio-deodorizer
APIA's Material Development
APIA advances biomaterial R&D using formulation technology and works toward implementation in architecture, infrastructure, and living environments. Through this field trial, the company will evaluate the deodorizing performance of Safu™ and its operation under real-world conditions.
